The medical insurance company Gazprommedstrakh, part of the SOGAZInsurance Group, has been declared the winner of the tender held to select a medical insurance organisation that will implement the compulsory medical insurance (CMI) program for the unemployed population of the Astrakhan Region in 2007.In accordance with the results of the tender, Gazprommedstrakh will provide insurance for 225,000 unemployed citizens in the Volodarsky district, Kamyzyak district, Yenotayevka district, Liman district, Kharabali district, and Krasny Yar district, Astrakhan region; the town of Znamensk (closed administrative-territorial entity), and the Kirovsky district of Astrakhan City.

The Astrakhan branch is one of the oldest (founded in August 1998) and largest branches of Gazprommedstrakh. It has insured over 9,000 regional companies and organisations. Total number of people provided with CMI insurance in the Astrakhan region is currently over 440,000.
